Nachdem Marianne in ihrer Wohnung eine Fehlgeburt erlitten hat, zieht sie zusammen mit ihrem Mann Willy nach Hobomeck. Der Ortswechsel scheint ihr gutzutun, nach ihren schweren Depressionen hat sie sich wieder einigerma\u00dfen gefangen. Dass Willy einen seltsamen Kinderwagen vom Einkaufen mitgebracht hat, ahnt sie nicht und so nimmt das Unheil seinen Lauf.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Um Joe Hill war es ja lange still. Ende Oktober erschien dann in der 6-teiligen Amazon „Creature Feature Collection“ seine neue Kurzgeschichte „The Pram“ und die musste ich unbedingt lesen. Au\u00dferdem war das mal wieder eine gute Gelegenheit, meine Englischkenntnisse zu testen, denn soweit ich wei\u00df, gibt es noch keine \u00dcbersetzung, allerdings ist es nicht wirklich schwer, dem Geschehen zu folgen. Wie der Titel schon sagt, geht es um einen Kinderwagen, den der \u00f6rtliche Ladenbesitzer Mr. Goodkind Willy borgt, um seine Eink\u00e4ufe nach Hause zu fahren. Da Willys Frau Marianne eine Fehlgeburt hatte, f\u00fchlt der sich mit dem Wagen ziemlich unwohl, zumal seine Eink\u00e4ufe in etwa das Gewicht eines Babys haben. Um sich auf andere Gedanken zu bringen, singt er und h\u00f6rt aus dem Wagen pl\u00f6tzlich das Gurren eines Babys.<\/span>
\nEine Fehlgeburt ist schrecklich, Marianne leidet immer noch darunter, sie hat ihre Arbeit vernachl\u00e4ssigt, sich gehen lassen und ihr Mann war die ganze Zeit f\u00fcr sie da, unf\u00e4hig selbst zu trauern. Als Goodkind Willy mit dem Kinderwagen losziehen l\u00e4sst, hat der zum ersten Mal Zeit, sich selbst mit seinem Verlust auseinanderzusetzen und das macht ihn verletzlich, anf\u00e4llig …
\n„The Pram“ ist eine fiese kleine Geschichte, die nebenbei auch noch ziemlich unbequem ist, dreht sie sich doch neben Corona und der Fehlgeburt auch um Depressionen und deren Folgen, kein erfreulicher Lesestoff also und f\u00fcr Eltern, die so etwas selbst durchgemacht haben mit Sicherheit nicht geeignet. Das macht die Kurzgeschichte aber eben auch so intensiv, ja, sie tut f\u00f6rmlich weh.
\nUnd trotzdem war ich ein wenig entt\u00e4uscht. Nat\u00fcrlich ist mir klar, dass man auf so wenigen Seiten nicht sonderlich tief graben kann und einige Dinge einfach auf der Strecke bleiben m\u00fcssen, aber irgendwie hab ich von Joe Hill ein wenig mehr erwartet. Der Schrecken baut sich langsam auf, was auch v\u00f6llig in Ordnung geht, aber mit dem Ende habe ich so meine Probleme, es wirkt \u00fcberst\u00fcrzt, fast so, als w\u00fcrden noch ein paar Seiten fehlen und das l\u00e4sst mich mit etwas gemischten Gef\u00fchlen zur\u00fcck.<\/span><\/p>\n

„The Pram“ kommt langsam in Fahrt, nach und nach wird die Geschichte aber immer unheimlicher. Gerade, weil man sich vollkommen in die Situation von Willy hineinversetzen kann. Leider ist das Ende f\u00fcr mich sehr unbefriedigend und dabei dachte ich immer, Stephen King w\u00e4re derjenige, der Probleme damit hat.^^
\nBis zum Showdown hat mich die Kurzgeschichte gefesselt und sogar ein bisschen f\u00fcr G\u00e4nsehaut gesorgt, das Ende war aber eher entt\u00e4uschend und so bleiben unterm Strich 3,5 von 5 Miezekatzen.<\/span><\/p>\n
