\"\"Nach einem Zugungl\u00fcck mit vielen Toten verh\u00f6ren zwei Ermittler den 23-j\u00e4hrigen Martin Lorensen, der als psychologischer Berater f\u00fcr Jugendliche arbeitet. Eigentlich h\u00e4tte auch er in dem Zug sitzen sollen, entschied sich aber daf\u00fcr nicht einzusteigen und warnte auf dem Bahnhof auch eine junges M\u00e4dchen und deren Mutter. Es ist nicht das erste Mal, dass er dem Tod so von der Schippe gesprungen ist, denn als vor Jahren in seiner Schule ein Amoklauf stattfand, war er mit Durchfall zu Hause.\u00a0<\/span>
\nMartin hat den beiden nicht viel zu sagen, doch als er einen von ihnen sp\u00e4ter in einem Diner wiedertrifft, erz\u00e4hlt er ihm eine durchgeknallte Story.<\/span>
\nJoe Hills Kurzgeschichte „Ushers“ gibt es bisher nur im Original auf Englisch, aber sie ist nicht schwer zu verstehen. Das Cover deutet bereits an, in welche Richtung sie geht. <\/span>Der Tod ist immer wieder ein faszinierendes Thema, zu dem der Protagonist hier eine ganz eigene Einstellung hat, denn er sieht ihn als etwas Nat\u00fcrliches, vor dem man keine Angst haben sollte, Tiere scheinen das zu verstehen, nur der Mensch kommt damit nicht klar. Doch das ist nicht das einzige „Problem“, mit dem sich Joe Hill trotz der wenigen Seiten auseinandersetzt. So ist einer der beiden Polizisten schwarz und macht sich Gedanken zum Rassismus in den eigenen Reihen. Au\u00dferdem geht es um Gleichgewicht, die Balance zwischen geben und nehmen. Das erinnert ein bisschen an die „Final Destination“ Reihe und mag vielleicht erstmal nicht unbedingt so spannend klingen, hat aber wichtige Auswirkungen auf die Figuren, die ebenfalls sehr gelungen sind. Allen voran nat\u00fcrlich Martin, der die Handlung tr\u00e4gt und mit dem ich keinesfalls tauschen m\u00f6chte. Trotz allem, was er erlebt hat, hat er seinen Humor bewahrt und wirkt dennoch irgendwie gebrochen, was nicht verwunderlich ist.
\nAuf gerade einmal 29 Seiten l\u00e4sst Joe Hill seine Leser in Martins Welt abtauchen, sorgt f\u00fcr Twists und ein drastisches, aber \u00fcberzeugendes Ende. Eine tolle Story mit nur einem Manko: Sie ist zu kurz, hier h\u00e4tte man noch so viel erz\u00e4hlen k\u00f6nnen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wie ihr wisst, mag ich Joe Hill und seine Art zu erz\u00e4hlen.Wie nicht anders erwartet, hat er auch mit „Ushers“ eine tolle Kurzgeschichte mit einem sympathischen Protagonisten erschaffen, der harte Entscheidungen treffen muss und deswegen ein wenig angeschlagen wirkt. Fragt man sich zu Beginn noch, was es mit dem jungen Mann auf sich hat, nimmt die Story schon bald eine \u00fcberraschende Wendung, die f\u00fcr ein unerwartetes Ende und ein ungutes Gef\u00fchl in der Magengegend sorgt. Daf\u00fcr vergebe ich gern 4,5 von 5 Miezekatzen.<\/span><\/p>\n
