Als Markus 6 Jahre alt war, hat sein Vater seine Mutter ermordet und es auf den Bogeyman unterm Bett geschoben. Was aber, wenn das keine Ausrede war?<\/span><\/p>\n

Bei ihrem zweiten Date erz\u00e4hlt Marcus seiner neuen Flamme Tess, dass sein Vater seine Mutter ermordet hat, was er als Kind in jener Nacht erlebt hat. Sein Dad hat ihm erz\u00e4hlt, es war der Boogeyman, der unter dem Bett lauert und nur darauf wartet, dass ein nackter Fu\u00df den Boden ber\u00fchrt, denn dann kann er zuschnappen. Anstatt sie damit zu verschrecken, landen die beiden bei ihm zu Hause, doch als sie im Dunkeln barfu\u00df ins Bad geht , beginnt sich Panik in ihm auszubreiten. Und er soll Recht behalten, denn pl\u00f6tzlich schnellt eine Hand unter seinem Bett hervor.
\nMit gerade einmal 28 Seiten ist „Ankle Snatcher“ nicht wirklich lang, trotzdem schafft es der Autor von Anfang an eine bedr\u00fcckende Atmosph\u00e4re aufzubauen, denn als Leser wei\u00df man\u00a0 nicht, was hier vorgeht.
\n\u00dcber Marcus, den Protagonisten, ist relativ wenig bekannt und das ist auch nicht weiter tragisch oder gar n\u00f6tig, um in die Geschichte einzutauchen und sich alten Kindheits\u00e4ngsten zu stellen. Denn wer kennt ihn nicht, den Bogeyman oder das Monster unter dem Bett, den gruseligen Clown …, die Liste l\u00e4sst sich endlos fortsetzen. Aber sind die Monster real oder nur Ausreden, um davon abzulenken, das in jedem von uns etwas Dunkles lauert und unser Pfad schon vorgegeben ist?
\nZweifellos interessante Fragen, die ich mir nicht zum ersten Mal stelle. Zusammen mit Grady Hendrix‘ sehr lebendigem Schreibstil macht das „Ankle Snatcher“ zu einer gruseligen Gute-Nacht-Geschichte, die mich dazu gebracht hat, selbst f\u00fcr einen kurzen Ausflug ins Bad nachts das Licht einzuschalten und in meine Schuhe zu schl\u00fcpfen.^^<\/span><\/p>\n

„Ankle Snatcher“ ist Teil der Amazon Original Creature Feature Collection, die aus 6 Kurzgeschichten besteht und bisher noch nicht auf Deutsch \u00fcbersetzt wurde. Grady Hendrix sorgt hier mit seinem eindringlichen Schreibstil f\u00fcr G\u00e4nsehaut und hat mich so ein bisschen angefixt, ich muss unbedingt mal etwas l\u00e4ngeres von ihm lesen. Bis dahin vergebe ich aber erstmal 4 von 5 Miezekatzen f\u00fcr den Bogeyman unterm Bett.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
